How Ivy works

  • Connected Blocks were introduced in Block Out Version 395 as a new blocker.
  • Linked blocks move together, so a move on one piece also affects its connected partner.
  • The connection holds until a clear condition separates the pieces.

  • Treat the connected pair as a single unit when planning lanes and exits.
  • Look for a clear that removes both linked colors without stranding one.
  • Position the pair so its combined footprint still leaves a usable path.

AVOID

Common mistakes

  • Do not move one block and assume its partner stays put.
  • Do not separate the colors into lanes that cannot both reach an exit.
  • Do not plan around the link as if it were a normal independent block.
